We kicked off our Lake Powell elopement adventure just before sunrise, meeting Emily and Ryan outside Zion National Park. The morning air was cool and fresh, filled with excitement for the day ahead. We started with horseback riding, a calm and serene way to begin. As the sun rose behind the red rock walls, Emily and Ryan laughed and chatted, their joy echoing off the surrounding red rocks.
After a peaceful morning, we took a break so Emily and Ryan could enjoy some quiet time together. Soon enough, we hopped into our 4×4 vehicles, ready for some off-roading fun on our way to White Pocket. This spot in Vermilion Cliffs National Monument in Northern Arizona is a desert lover’s dream, with its swirls of colorful sandstone. It feels like stepping into another world.
Off-roading to White Pocket is no joke. We had a bit of a mishap when our campervan’s coolant hose punctured. We had to leave it behind on the roadside and keep going. But it was so worth it! Emily and Ryan spent hours exploring this surreal area, and it felt like we could have stayed forever.
As the sun set, we sat around a campfire, roasting s’mores under a sky full of stars. Emily and Ryan spent the night tent camping, wrapping up a day filled with adventure and unbelievable natural beauty.
The next day, the adventure continued as we headed to Alstrom Point, a stunning overlook of Lake Powell. Only accessible by 4×4 and high-clearance vehicles, Alstrom Point was perfect for the private elopement ceremony Emily and Ryan wanted.
We spent the afternoon leisurely, with Emily and Ryan getting ready together for their ceremony. It was such an intimate moment, set against the breathtaking backdrop of Lake Powell. They exchanged handwritten vows as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden glow over everything.
After the ceremony, we snapped some gorgeous sunset portraits. The light was perfect, and Emily and Ryan’s happiness shone through in every shot. As night fell, we watched the full moon rise and the stars come out, ending the day on a magical note.
Emily and Ryan, high school sweethearts from Southern Utah, are huge desert lovers. They wanted their Lake Powell elopement to reflect that passion. Ryan’s love for cars made the 4×4 adventure a perfect fit. Privacy was also key for them, which is why we picked secluded spots like privately owned land for horseback riding and the remote Alstrom Point.
White Pocket, even with its growing Instagram fame, was too beautiful to skip. While we didn’t have it all to ourselves, the stunning landscape made up for it.
This Lake Powell elopement was an epic adventure, perfectly tailored to Emily and Ryan’s love for the desert and their desire for a unique, intimate experience. If you’re thinking about a Lake Powell elopement, I hope their journey inspires you to create your own unforgettable adventure.
