The Adventure Began at Toll Booths Rock Formations

Walker and Sharook’s adventure began early in the morning. We met at 7:30 AM at Mad Moose Rentals to sign waivers and watch a safety video. Afterward, they rented some Polaris RZR’s, ready to dive into the Sand Mountain OHV area. By 8:00 AM, we were on our way, and the excitement was palpable. I was practically buzzing!

Our first stop was the striking Toll Booths, a series of large rock formations resembling highway toll booths. These majestic natural structures set the tone for the day, offering an iconic backdrop for the couple’s initial engagement photos in Utah (even if Sharook didn’t realize they were engagement photos yet 😂).

A Surprise Proposal on Competition Hill Overlook

Next, we drove up to Competition Hill Overlook. The panoramic views from this vantage point are breathtaking, stretching for miles and even reaching into Arizona. It was here, amidst this stunning scenery, that Walker decided the time was right. He knelt down and proposed to Sharook, who was caught completely by surprise. The joy and emotion was precious, creating a magical moment that was beautifully captured in their photos. This moment is going to be living rent-free in my mind for the rest of my life.

A Day of Fun in the Sand Dunes and on Sand Mountain

With the proposal a success, it was time for some fun. We descended into the sand dunes, an area known for its exhilarating off-road experiences. Walker and Sharook reveled in the thrill of ripping donuts in the sand, their laughter and excitement echoing across the dunes. The sand dunes quickly became a highlight of the day—not just for them but for me as well. Capturing their joy amidst the stunning landscape made for some truly remarkable engagement photos in Utah.

We spent the remainder of our four-hour adventure session exploring Sand Mountain, a premier OHV area adjacent to Sand Hollow State Park. Known for its technical trails and expansive sand dunes, Sand Mountain offers 360-degree views of Southern Utah’s natural beauty. From the Pine Valley Mountains and Hurricane Cliffs to the Red Cliffs Conservation Area and parts of northern Arizona, every direction offered a new and awe-inspiring vista.

Scenic Beauty and Challenging Trails

Southern Utah’s terrain is as challenging as it is beautiful. We overheard stories from the rental company about rescue missions for off-roaders who had gotten stuck, underscoring the area’s rugged nature. Despite the challenges, there are plenty of easier trails that allow for exploration without the risk, making it accessible for adventurers of all skill levels.
