Welcome to the blog, where resources are available to help you plan your best adventure yet!
There’s something special about photographing a couple in Bryce Canyon National Park. OK, I might say that a lot but it’s true! Recently, I had the opportunity to capture engagement photos for Lacey and Edith, and I can’t wait to share them with you. They really are a couple whose love story spans continents and reflects a shared passion for travel and adventure. I was obsessed.
As an experienced photographer, capturing elopements and engagements in breathtaking locations like Bryce Canyon is something I truly love. I’m here to help you feel comfortable and make the most of every moment (with pictures to prove it!). When you hire me, together, we’ll create engagement photos that are personal, meaningful, and filled with the natural beauty of your surroundings. If that’s what you are looking for, let’s connect and plan a session (or elopement!) that truly reflects your relationship!
Now, let’s get back to Lacey and Edith!
Firstly, this photoshoot session was actually a surprise arranged by Lacey’s sister and brother. They wanted to do something meaningful for the couple, who were about to embark on a road trip together through Utah. Lacey lives in Colorado, and Edith in France. With long-distance being a constant part of their relationship, a special moment to celebrate their engagement seemed like the perfect gift.
Lacey and Edith first met while traveling in Portugal. It didn’t take long for them to realize they had something special. Since then, they’ve been traveling back and forth between the U.S. and Europe. They are definitely always making the most of the time they get to spend together. It’s clear that their relationship has been built on a foundation of shared experiences, whether exploring new places or navigating the challenges of long-distance. I couldn’t wait to celebrate their engagement with them!
By the time I met them in Bryce Canyon, Lacey and Edith had already traveled through Zion National Park. It’s there they had their proposal moment. Lacey had been planning to propose to Edith during their time in Zion, but when she pulled out a ring, Edith surprised her by pulling out one as well. A double proposal wasn’t part of the original plan, but it felt like a perfect reflection of their relationship.
After Zion, the next stop on their trip was Bryce Canyon, where I met up with them to capture their engagement photos. Lacey and Edith had no idea about the session, so it was a fun surprise to share with them.
Bryce Canyon is a location that never disappoints, and for engagement photos, it offers something truly unique. The towering hoodoos and sweeping canyon views create an incredible backdrop. On the day of Lacey and Edith’s session, we were lucky enough to catch a bit of snow as well! There’s something about the contrast of red rock and white snow that adds a layer of depth to the landscape, making it feel even more magical.
We started with a hike into the canyon, which gave us plenty of time to chat and get to know each other better. Lacey and Edith’s energy was calm and comfortable, and it was clear they were just happy to be together. They shared stories of their travels and their relationship, and it was easy to see how much they care for one another.
Throughout the session, we stopped at different points in the canyon to capture photos. It was a very laid-back photoshoot, and we let the park’s natural beauty provide an incredible backdrop. Whether standing at the edge of the canyon or holding hands on a quiet trail, Lacey and Edith were entirely focused on each other, and that’s what made the photos feel so authentic.
If you’re considering engagement photos in Bryce Canyon, do it! This park offers a unique mix of dramatic landscapes and intimate spots. The towering rock formations, expansive views, and the play of light throughout the day create an environment that feels both vast and personal. There’s something about being surrounded by nature’s grandeur that brings out a quiet sense of connection. What more could you ask for?
What I appreciated most about this session was how natural everything felt. There wasn’t any rush, and nothing felt overly posed. We took our time, exploring the trails and stopping whenever the light or landscape inspired us. The snow began falling softly toward the end of the shoot, adding a quiet, peaceful vibe to the day.
Lacey and Edith were relaxed and present, which made it easy to capture moments that felt genuine. Whether they were laughing together or taking in the view, it was clear that this wasn’t just about the photos—it was about making memories during their time in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
One of the most rewarding parts of being a photographer is receiving feedback from the couples I’ve worked with. It means a lot to me to be part of such personal moments, and it’s always an honor to hear how the experience felt from their perspective. Lacey and Edith were kind enough to share a few words about their time with me in Bryce Canyon, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Here’s what they said:
Highly recommend!! She was attentive to our needs, enthusiastic and encouraging, captured the moment perfectly, had creative ideas that turned out so fun, an ally to lgbt, great communication. She was helpful and accommodating with scheduling. It was a breeze working with Sarah, like hanging out with a friend, which made the photos come out looking naturally beautiful. She is passionate about what she does and it shows in her work as well as her communication and professionalism. We’re super grateful we found her!
Lastly, if you’re thinking about doing engagement photos in Bryce Canyon, it’s a location that offers endless possibilities. For Lacey and Edith, this shoot was about more than just documenting their engagement. They had a chance to slow down and enjoy the beauty of their surroundings while celebrating their relationship. It’s moments like these that make engagement sessions feel personal and meaningful.
