I spend months at a time at each location I travel to, diving deep into the local elopement market in that area, so I can bring the important information to you from the comfort of your home.
Welcome to the blog, where resources are available to help you plan your best adventure yet!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: there’s something magical about Grand Teton National Park. The rugged mountain peaks, the golden sunsets, and the wide-open spaces make it the perfect backdrop for a love story. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing Kayla and Hurst, a couple who are head over heels in love with both each other and the Wyoming landscape. This session was filled with laughter, adventure, and a deep connection to the land. All of this made their Grand Teton engagement photos truly unforgettable. I can’t wait to share it with you today.
Before we dive in, are you searching for someone to capture every unforgettable moment? Hi! I’m Sarah, a photographer based out of my campervan. I’ve had the honor of photographing elopements, weddings, and engagement sessions all over the world. If you’re ready to create something beautiful together, I’d love to connect!
Kayla and Hurst’s journey to Wyoming began a few months ago when they left their home in Georgia. They got jobs as ranch hands for the summer, and ended up trading the comfort of their hometown and the company of their friends and family for the wide-open spaces of the West. They embraced the adventurous spirit that drew them together. Early in their relationship, they took a road trip through Wyoming and fell in love with the Grand Tetons. So, when it came time for their engagement photos, returning to this stunning national park was an easy decision.
The couple’s love for the West was woven into every detail of their session. Kayla showed up in a stunning white dress she found at a local thrift shop. Accessorized with turquoise jewelry and cowboy boots, and completed the look with part of her ring set from Jackson Hole Jewelry. Hurst, perfectly complimenting her, wore a grey button-up shirt, blue jeans, a cowboy hat, and of course, cowboy boots. Their outfits fit right in with the rugged, yet romantic feel of the Tetons and made their personalities shine in every shot.
We kicked off the session at Schwabacher Landing, a truly iconic spot for Grand Teton engagement photos. As we arrived just before sunset, the light started to soften into that dreamy, golden hue that makes everything glow. The Grand Teton mountains stood tall in the background, bathed in the soft, buttery light of the setting sun.
Kayla and Hurst were total naturals in front of the camera, their connection palpable in every pose and candid moment. One of the shots that stands out the most from this part of the session was the couple sitting together on the wooden ceremony chairs that overlook the mountains. It was simple and sweet, capturing the natural ease of their connection.
As the sun began to set behind the mountains, we headed to one of Grand Teton’s most iconic spots—Mormon Row. This historic area, with its rustic barns and sweeping views of the Tetons, was the perfect location for Kayla and Hurst’s engagement shoot. The Moulton Barn, which has become a symbol of the park, matched their Western aesthetic perfectly.
By the time we arrived, we had the whole place to ourselves. The quietness of the empty fields, the silhouette of the barn against the vibrant colors of the sky, and the towering mountains behind it created a breathtaking backdrop. I captured a few intimate moments of them together, framed by the barn and the lush, green fields. It was magic.
Lastly, as the sun set, Kayla decided to switch things up with an outfit change before we wrapped up. She swapped her white dress for blue jeans, a flowy white top, and knee-high boots, giving the session a fresh, laid-back feel. The new outfit was just as stunning and really showcased Kayla’s easygoing, adventurous side.
Grand Teton National Park offers countless opportunities for stunning engagement photos. Schwabacher Landing and Mormon Row, in particular, are two of the most popular locations for engagement and wedding photography within the park, and for good reason! The scenery is diverse, dramatic, and incredibly photogenic, with stunning views of the mountains, rivers, and historic sites that offer plenty of options for photos!
For couples looking to tie the knot in the park, Schwabacher Landing and Mormon Row are also two of the six wedding ceremony locations that can be reserved within Grand Teton National Park. With wide open spaces, breathtaking backdrops, and an unmistakable sense of serenity, these spots offer a beautiful and intimate setting for elopements or small weddings.
Kayla and Hurst’s Grand Teton engagement photos were a celebration of love, adventure, and the stunning beauty of Wyoming. If you’re considering an engagement session or elopement in the Tetons, I can’t recommend it enough. Whether it’s the peaceful waters of Schwabacher Landing or the historic charm of Mormon Row, Grand Teton National Park has a way of making every moment feel magical.
